Digital X-Rays

The Smile Stop follows the current guidelines from the American Academy of Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry when taking x-rays. Dental x-rays are taken on an as-needed basis during routine cleaning appointments. They are used to locate potential cavities, observe the location of erupting teeth, diagnose disease of the jaw bone, evaluate the site of an injury and plan orthodontic treatment. X-ray machines for our pediatric patients are fully digital. Digital equipment uses up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-ray machines. Your child will also be given a lead body apron and a collar to protect the thyroid gland during the x-ray process. If you have any concerns regarding your child and x-rays, please discuss them with our friendly and helpful staff.
